America’s Favorite Beers???

America’s Favorite Beers???

I just recently read a report about America’s top selling beers. While I expected to see “The King of Beers” on the chart, I was surprised that it wasn’t there. Neither was Miller, or Coor’s. Not even their Lite brands. That gave me a sigh of relief. American’s aren’t getting brainwashed from all those commercials. I’ll give you a run down (plus my own ramblings) on each one. As I guzzle down on some Stella’s. 10) Corona Extra. Corona? Well with their new advertising campaign. Well not new exactly, but  you know the one. Bring paradise to where you are, or something along those lines. But even before that people always loved that Mexican cervesa. Not me, nope. I always despised Corona. Never liked it. Not even with the lemon wedge sticking out of the bottle, not even with out it. I prefer other Mexican beers that are much better. Beers like Victoria, or Modelo. Now those two are what I would call cervesa. 09) Heineken. A blond beer from Amsterdam. One of the better blondes, but she ain’t got nothing on my Stella. A nice refreshing taste, but not bitter enough for me. I don’t think I’ve seen...

Decline In Quality?

Decline In Quality?

Things don’t taste as good as they used to. I figured it out when we recently went to a Mexican restaurant when the food there wasn’t what it was just a couple years later. Now, a couple years is a long time, but this place was known for their burritos and tacos. A decline in quality? Most people will say it’s caused by the inflation, and they’re trying to keep their prices low. I don’t buy that. Most restaurants will just raise the price instead of trying to cook with lesser quality ingredients. This isn’t just one place though, I’ve heard from people that some places around here just aren’t what they used to. A place that was famed one year ago for best Gyros in town, people say to me that it just isn’t what it was just a couple of months ago. Now, that’s good for me as I can maybe steal their customers away from them, but that’s a whole other story.

WSIDT – April 24th : Winston Churchill Is Knighted

“My religion prescribed as an absolute sacred ritual smoking cigars and drinking alcohol before, after and if need be during all meals and the intervals between them.” Winston Churchill was knighted today by Queen Elizabeth II. He did many things in his life like helping in defeating the Nazi teetotalers in World War II, served as Britain’s Prime Minister twice, Received a Nobel Prize in Literature, and the list goes on. Churchill was a grade a drunk. “There is always some alcohol in his bloodstream,” biographer William Manchester attested, “and it reaches its peak late in the evening after he has had two or three Scotches, several glasses of Champagne, at least two brandies, and a highball.” We’ll drink like Churchill today, Scotch, Champagne, Brandy, and a Highball.

WSIDT – April 10th : I Heard It Through The Grapevine

A song about the beginning of the end of a relationship. Marvin Gaye recorded his version of the song today, back in 1967. If that’s not enough, his version of this song became the most known, and ended up being the greatest pop song of that era. We got grapevines here, but since this is a song about heartbreak wine just won’t cut it. So, we’re grabbing a bottle of brandy tonight, and listening to this song sounds like a good way to spend this night.

WSIDT – March 22 : National Goof Off Day

And that means you can do anything you want, except what you’re supposed to do. Skip work, school, and stay at home all day, or not. Head on over to the bar and goof off with a bunch of friends. Also not that you should be drinking something with a goofy name. Maybe a Purple Nipple? Sure, why not? What. you don’t know how to make it? Just pour yourself equal parts of Vodka, Chambord, and 7up.

WSIDT – March 17 St. Patricks Day

WSIDT – March 17 St. Patricks Day

Today, everyone wishes they were Irish. St. Patrick’s day celebrates the day St. Patrick cleared Ireland of all the snakes. But, what does that have to do with drinking? Beats me. All I know is that everyone goes to the parade, wars green and drink green beer. Here in Chicago, the south side parade is the best out there. That is till this year where they banned drinking in the streets. Now most people will probably head down to the loop and watch them paint the river green. Head on out, watch the parade, and drink plenty of green beer.

WSIDT – March 08 : Be Nasty Day

WSIDT – March 08 : Be Nasty Day

Upon looking the word up in the dictionary, Nasty means filthy, dirty, nauseating, offensive to taste or smell. And, we figured that there are many ways to be nasty today. You can start off with not taking a shower today, and head on over to work, unshaven, smelly, you can even wear the clothes that you haven’t gotten around to washing. Yeah, the ones that have been stuck at the bottom of the pile of dirty clothes for the last couple of weeks should be fine. Remember that you must only drink rotgut liquor today. Be it Petrov Vodka, or a bottle of Johnnie Walker it’s all the same.

It’s Already Been A Year

It’s Already Been A Year

It’s already been a year. We published some stories, recipes, and a whole bunch of reasons to drink. And we also recorded an episode of What’s Burnin’!? And even though that episode wasn’t nearly as good as we thought it would be, we still had some fun doing it. And don’t think that we’re done filming episodes. Can’t forget about the reviews we did either. Although not as much as we hoped, we tried places we wouldn’t even think of trying were it not for this blog. Can’t say we’re going to go back to those places, cause there’s so many more out there we need to keep trying. Sure, most of our latest entries for the last couple of months have only been for the “Why should I drink tonight?” part of the site, but we got some more recipes and reviews coming your way. We even went as far as Greece and did a couple of reviews over there. Mostly we were trying to find the best Gyros in Athens. And, that meant we ate a lot of em over the three weeks that we were there. So, keep your eyes peeled on this site and if...

WSIDT – March 04 : Boozinfoodie.com Debuts

If you’re reading this than you’ll probably be happy, or not. But, we here at boozinfoodie.com, all 1 of us. If there ever was a reason to celebrate the day, well, this one is probably the biggest one. For us anyway. In order to celebrate our birthday we recommend the Boozin’ Foodie’s drink of choice, Jack Daniel’s. We probably should get something from old Jack himself since we are always dropping his name.
