WSIDT – May 3rd : James Brown’s Birthday

jamesOne of the founding fathers of funk, James Brown is often referred to as “The Godfather of Soul”. He gained fame in the 1950’s with his ballads, Please, Please, Please,” and “Try Me”. James Brown was  the hardest working man in show business, and nothing would stop him from giving the best stage performance that he could give.

Early in his career, 1962 to be exact, James Brown and his band covered Jimmy Forest’s “Night Train”. Guess what we’ll be drinking tonight.
